Kushti Wrestling

One of the world's oldest sports, the traditional Indian martial art of Kushti wrestling finds its roots both in peace and in war. Orginally developed by combining the traditions of several overlaping cultures during the Mongol Empire's reign in India - Kusthi represtents the diacotomy of India. In the north of the country, practitioners in Kushti Akharas must be Hindu and pray to the Monkey God Hanuman. In the south, members of a Talim can be of any religion, as long as they dedicate themselves to the sport and the wrestling lifestyle.
